Welcome
to our unique little town. Though were at the top of the renowned
Napa Valley, were just 75 miles from San Francisco. But we
offer a travel experience unlike any other. Since its founding as
a hot springs resort over 130 years ago, Calistoga has come to be
known worldwide for its spas, its resorts, its mineral waters,
its award-winning restaurants, its delightful shopping, and, of
course, its wineries.
Spas in Calistoga each have their
own unique style and combination of services, but generally the
treatments consist of mud bath, mineral bath, steam, towel wrap
and massage. Each can be purchased individually, but they are best
enjoyed all together. Depending on the length of massage chosen,
the whole process normally takes about one and a half to two hours.
Reservations are necessary for weekends.
Mud baths usually consist of a thick mixture
of volcanic ash and/or peat moss and Calistogas famed mineral
water, hot out of the ground. Some spas feature a Fango-or thin-mud
bath. Youre immersed in this wonderfully soothing blend for
about 10 to 12 minutes. The thick mixture actually suspends you
while the heat penetrates and relaxes the sinews and muscles of
your body. Stress, tension, aches and pains just melt away.
Napa Valley Wineries The rich, volcanic soils and varied micro-climates of the Napa
Valley have blessed us with many wonderful vineyards and wineries.
At the northern end of this lush valley, Calistoga has its fair
share of excellent labels. Our warm sunny days followed by cool
nights often shrouded in fog, have created a remarkable region for
superb wines.
